About the Manitowoc Company:
1902 : Elias Gunnell, Charles West,
and Lynford Geer found Manitowoc Dry Dock Company, June 27.
1910 : Manitowoc Dry Dock Company renamed Manitowoc Shipbuilding
Company.
1945 : Manitowoc begins manufacturing domestic freezers and other
commercial refrigeration equipment.
1952 : Manitowoc shipbuilding reorganized as The Manitowoc Company,
Inc.
1966 : Manitowoc introduced its first commercial grade ice-cube
machine.
1995 : Manitowoc acquires the Shannon Group, a leading manufacturer
of walk-in refrigerators and freezers. Foodservice equipment sales
jump from 35 percent to 54 percent of total company sales.
2000 : Manitowoc acquires Marinette Marine Corporation
2001 : Manitowoc acquires Potain S.A., the world's leading producer
of tower cranes.
2002 : Manitowoc acquires Grove Worldwide, a leading manufacturer of mobile hydraulic and truck mounted cranes.
