The ISO 9001 series of standards focuses on "quality management".
Stringent customer and applicable regulatory requirements are put in place
to meet customer satisfaction needs. These new standards have been initiated
to better reflect the changes in today's business operations. As a result,
there is a closer alignment between quality management systems and the
needs of a business. Examples of quality management principles reviewed
for certification include; customer focus, leadership, process approach,
continual improvement and supplier relationships.
ISO is the world's largest developer of standards governing the manufacture
and supply of products, testing and analysis, vernacular content, and
the provision of services. Currently, 30,000 worldwide experts work
together to develop the criteria necessary to achieve this prestigious
classification.
